Him & Her On Trends

By Him & Her – This week we collected some current trends we see a lot in our daily lives. We gave our opinion about 5 trends separately. We hope you will enjoy reading our view on these fashion trends!

The High Chunky Heel

For me it really depends on the shoes. I mean the shoes you see on the left have a huge amount of grip, which in my opinion make them look like mountaineering boots. However the shoes on the right look very elegant to me.  I really like this trend, but I really dislike it at the same time. I love the thicker heel for walking around in the city or at University without looking overdressed and get stuck with your heel in between small paving stones. But in my opinion, heels should be elegant and I don’t think the platform of the left pair contributes to that. Conclusion: Yes, thick heel, but without the platform.

The Behind Lobe Earring

I am really starting to like this kind of new earring. At first I was a bit hesitant about the behind lobe earring. When she first got one pair I did not really know if I liked it. But now I think they are very pretty. Absolutely love this one! I am a stud earring lover and love that these stand out a bit more than normal earstuds without overpowering your face. While you are reading this, I just purchased my second pair :)

The Female Hipster Bun

Pictures: Pinterest & Pinterest

The hipster bun, well what can I say. I think it makes you look sloppy, haha. I would choose any hairstyle over this one on a girl. It is not just the hairstyle, but also the image that comes with it. The ‘I am too lazy to do my hair today’ image. No, the female hipster bun is not for me.  This trend started last summer but I’ve seen this trend this winter as well. I hope I don’t offend someone if I say I really dislike this trend. I really like buns, but to me, it just looks like there is a big mushroom growing out of your head.  NOT flattering at all.

The Male Hipster Bun

The male hipster bun is even stranger to me, especially with the short trimmed sides. The first thing that comes to my mind is Sokka from Avatar haha. To be honest I tried it once. Her & me went to Malawi, Africa for a month to do volunteer work. So I thought, well I am going to trim my hair so no bugs will be able to live in it while in Africa. But before all my hair was fully trimmed off I wanted to look like Sokka. However within an hour she trimmed the rest off as well.  Well, what can I say? I just dislike the half-up style bun. Even though I would love to drink a cup of tea with the guy on the right (don’t tell him!), I think he would be better of without his little mushroom.

Fluffy Cardigan

Pictures: PinterestPinterest

I am not so sure about the fluffy cardigan. They can definitely be too fluffy as you can see on the picture on the right. However if they are not too fluffy and combined with some sleek clothes they can look awesome. But ladies, please avoid that too fluffy sheep look. Bèèèèhhh! Ok, so I understand that these cardigans will keep you warm very well, that’s the function of wool for the sheep too. But this doens’t mean that you should look like one. Maybe I just have to get used to this trend but at the moment I don’t know if I dislike the pink or the white one more..

We would love to hear your opinions about these trends! Let us know if you agree or not with us in the comment section below.

Hope to see you next week,

  1. Agree with your take on the shoes (and pretty much the rest, too!), but I really loved your opinion on the bun. There is just not really a good time to ever wear your hair like that, particularly if you are male. I just found your blog and look forward to reading more in the future!
